Titanium Dioxide Side Effects-Is Titanium Dioxide Volatile

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is not volatile in the traditional sense of the word. Volatility in chemistry refers to a substance’s ability to vaporize and become a gas at normal temperatures and pressures. Titanium dioxide is a solid, white pigment that is widely used in products such as paints, plastics, papers, and sunscreens. It does not easily vaporize at room temperature and pressure.

However, at very high temperatures, titanium dioxide can sublime, which means it transitions directly from a solid to a gas without passing through the liquid phase. This process requires temperatures well above those typically encountered in everyday conditions or industrial uses of titanium dioxide. Therefore, under normal conditions, titanium dioxide is considered non-volatile.
